ISIS is a short, catchy abbreviation for 'Inner Space' Interactive Sourcing. The 'inner space' is like a state that can be experienced in meditation: a deeper part of your consciousness. It is a place of stillness and silence wherein a deeper exploration of yourself can begin.
When it comes to states of consciousness most people think of only two states - waking and sleeping. But in truth, there are different levels to waking consciousness. Compare a meditation experience to a time when you are at work, perhaps talking with a customer on the phone. What is the difference in your consciousness during these two experiences?
It has to do with what the mind is doing. When you are engaged in an activity in what we could call our normal daily waking consciousness we use the five physical senses (sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste). These senses draw our attention outwards onto whatever we are experiencing at the time. By contrast, meditation works by having the mind fall silent, and switching off the interminable 'blah, blah, blah" that goes on in the background throughout the day. When this is achieved through meditation your attention is naturally drawn inward. Other more subtle senses are activated which are more attuned to your inner landscape Ð a place where feelings, yearnings, a more instinctive inner knowing can be accessed.
It is by reaching this part of you that ISIS works and sets it apart from other forms of talk therapy.
